Day 1 Pangkalan Bun – Kumai – Tanjung Harapan
Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun
Airport, you will be picked up by our guide and transferred to Kumai. Boat
up the river to explore the great mangrove, nipah palm, and wildlife along the Sekonyer river while lunch is prepared on the boat.
If
we arrive at Tanjung Harapan before 3 pm, we will have chance to visit the
information center and see the feeding time. After that,
slowly explore the quiet river by the klotok while observing the monkeys along
the riverside in the peaceful afternoon. Late afternoon, observe the proboscis monkey and other primates along
the river.
The boat is traditional boat wooden
river boat about 14 m x 2,5 m with roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain
forest as it glides by. Simple mattresses, pillows, meals, bottled mineral
water, mosquito nets, simple toilet and shower are available on boat. Overnight

Day 2 Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey
After early breakfast, travel up to Pondok Tanggui
which is the rehabilitation center for
the ex-captive
orangutans and see the feeding time around 9 am. We can also
take a soft trekking to explore the rainforest here. Lunch on the boat while proceeding to Camp Leakey, the research
center where older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest.
The feeding time is around 2 pm. Overnight on the boat. (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you can have another opportunity to
trek in the forest and see information center at Camp Leakey. After that, go
back to the boat for lunch and then travel down to Tanjung Harapan to see
feeding time around 3 pm and visit a local village. Late afternoon, boat down
slowly to the Nipah palm area where you can see the beautiful fireflies when
the weather is good. Overnight on the boat. (B, L, D)
Day 4 Tanjung Keluang Beach
After
early breakfast, we travel to Tanjung Keluang beach. Along
the river you can see the mangrove forest. Tanjung Keluang is nature park that
has a turtle sanctuary. If you’re lucky you can release a baby turtle (if
available, pay on arrival). Relax on the beach for the rest of the day. In the
evening, you can take a night walk to observe nocturnal animals. Overnight on
the boat or go simple camping. (B, L, D)
Day 5 Tanjung Keluang Beach – Kumai – Pangkalan
Bun
After breakfast, go back to
Kumai and transfer by car to Pangkalan Bun airport for your next destination.
